Beer and Theology Returns for the Fall

Beer and Theology is back, starting this Thursday, September 24, at 5:30pm at Bridget’s. We’ll be there every Thursday from then on.

For anybody who hasn’t been before, here’s how an evening goes. We sit down and ask everybody what’s on their mind. Nothing gets assigned ahead of time and there’s nothing to read — you bring whatever you walked in with, whether that’s something from your week, something you’ve been chewing on, or a question you’ve been carrying around for a while.

It turns out that just about everything is theological at its root. Whatever somebody brings, it usually has to do with what’s true and with how we go about living in the world God made. You don’t need an answer to say it out loud, and most of us don’t have one.

Once everybody’s had a turn, I’ll pick out one or two themes I heard running through the conversation, and we’ll dig into those together. Sometimes that takes fifteen minutes and sometimes it takes the rest of the evening.

It’s called Beer and Theology, but beer isn’t required. Non-alcoholic drinks are welcome, and so is ordering nothing at all — you don’t have to buy anything to sit with us. Order food or don’t, whichever you like. I’m usually there from 5:30 to 7:00pm, and you can show up late or leave early whenever you need to; you’ll fit right in either way.
